Job Description
Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting that will oversee the Accounting Group. The Accounting Group is responsible for the timely preparation and reporting of monthly financial results. In addition, the Accounting Group compiles the quarterly and annual financial statements and footnote disclosures; prepares annual regulatory filings with FERC; and implements new accounting pronouncements. Internally, the Accounting Group communicates results to our executive team and the Board of Managers. Externally, we provide information to regulatory agencies and creditors. The Accounting Group also establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls.

Our client is seeking a Director of Accounting that will oversee the Accounting Group. The Accounting Group is responsible for the timely preparation and reporting of monthly financial results. In addition, the Accounting Group compiles the quarterly and annual financial statements and footnote disclosures; prepares annual regulatory filings with FERC; and implements new accounting pronouncements. Internally, the Accounting Group communicates results to our executive team and the Board of Managers. Externally, we provide information to regulatory agencies and creditors. The Accounting Group also establishes and maintains accounting policies and controls.
Responsibilities
- Complete complex accounting transactions
- Prepares internal and external financial reports including required regulatory filings with FERC
- Researches, interprets, and implements new accounting and reporting standards in accordance with FASB requirements
- Performs financial studies, actual versus budget analyses, research projects and budgeting
- Oversees and/or assists with treasury functions and accounts payable process
- Assists with human resources, including but not limited to payroll and benefits administration
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, controls and safeguards the organization's assets.
- This position establishes and maintains good corporate relations with the investment and banking communities.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; or a bachelor’s degree in finance with a concentration in accounting will be considered
- CPA
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Good working knowledge of current and newly released FASB pronouncements
- Work experience researching, interpreting, documenting and implementing (if applicable) FASB pronouncements
- Strong computer skills including a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong documentation skills
- Well-developed written/verbal communication skills with the ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal customers in an interactive team environment
- Possess the ability to work in a deadline-oriented, fast paced environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Working knowledge of FERC Uniform System of Accounts
- Public Accounting experience, particularly with a Big Four Accounting Firm
- Project Management Professional certificate
- Lean Six Sigma certificate (Black Belt preferred) or comparable lean methodologies certification
