Urology Austin is recruiting for a NEW leadership role - a Director of Cancer Operations. This leader will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of cancer care operations within the organization. This role involves creating a patient-focused, high-performance cancer care program that aligns with our mission and vision. The Director will ensure operational excellence, collaborate with key stakeholders, and oversee the delivery of high-quality cancer care operations.
Urology Austin is a large central Texas health care practice has over 50 healthcare providers, 12 area locations, plus a centrally located radiation center. Urology Austin focuses on treating all urologic medical needs including urologic cancer care.
Today, cancer care with our practice includes diagnostic testing, medication therapy, surgical care, a medical oncology partnership, in house radiation oncology, clinical trials options and a care coordination/ navigation program. Early in 2025 the practice will be expanding to include a Kyle, Texas based Cancer Center.

Job Summary:
The Director of Cancer Operations is responsible for the overall leadership and management of cancer care operations within Urology Austin. This role involves creating a patient-focused, high-performance cancer care program that aligns with the mission and vision of Urology Austin. The Director will ensure operational excellence, collaborate with key stakeholders, and oversee the delivery of high-quality cancer care operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Leadership and Culture: Foster a positive and supportive organizational culture that aligns with the mission and values of Urology Austin.
- Clinical Operations: Oversee the operations of medical oncology (partnership), radiation oncology operations, and support services including patient navigation, ensuring adherence to protocols and best practices.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with Urology Austin and Urology America leadership on the strategic plan, budgets, resource allocation, and operational plans the cancer care operations.
- Financial Management: Develop budgets, policies, and strategies to optimize financial performance, improve efficiency, and ensure sustainability and growth.
- Program Development: Develop and implement clinical programs that meet community needs and align with market trends.
- Staff Management: Supervise staff, collaborate with Urology Austin leadership and Urology Austin partners, and foster a positive and supportive work environment.
- Leadership Development: Coach and mentor team members to drive business growth, enhance relationships, and improve clinical outcomes.
- Physician Relations: Foster strong relationships with internal and external providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality care, to optimize patient outcomes and to grow patient care services.
- Community Outreach: Engage with the community to raise awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment options.
- Research and Innovation: Support research initiatives available via the Urology America Research department.
- Human Resources: Manage recruitment, staffing, training, and development of staff to ensure a qualified and competent workforce.
- Process Improvement: Implement process improvement methodologies to optimize operations, enhance efficiency, and improve care delivery.
- Policy Development: Develop, review, and revise policies, procedures, and standards related to patient care and operations, interpreting them for healthcare teams and other pertinent audiences.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain readiness for inspections.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or a related field strongly desired.
- Clinical experience preferred; 5 years of progressive healthcare management experience required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to effectively communicate and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of cancer care services, including radiation oncology and support services.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong financial management and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of healthcare professionals.
