Summary:
The Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center is a multi-disciplinary arts center in Washington Heights that showcases contemporary and classical Dominican and Latin American art, dance, and music. Intergenerational learning and transnational and cross-cultural activities are the philosophical guideposts of the Center. Lessons and workshops in computer, arts making, popular and traditional dances, Afro-Latin percussion, literary conferences, music, and theatrical performances are provided free of charge. The Center engages with local, regional, and national partners to offer the most comprehensive array of cultural/educational/community programs that benefit the Latino community in New York City. The Director of Cultural Programs will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading, supervising, and monitoring (with a quality assurance lens) all the arts and cultural programs and events of the Alianza Dominicana Cultural Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Coordinate the delivery of robust programming opportunities offered by program providers across the various arts disciplines, particularly those related to CCCS/Alianza's programs and events.
- Oversight of the day-to-day operations of the CCCS/Alianza Cultural Center, including building logistics and program schedules.
- Manage all Center administrative functions, including contracts management, internal and external statistical and other reports, corporate and contract budgets, personnel issues, and general facilities issues.
- Provide strategic insight to CCCS senior management, community stakeholders, and local elected officials regarding programming and events that contribute to fulfilling the Cultural Center's mission.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train staff members to support programs' daily operations and delivery. Provide ongoing supervision to team members.
- Provide innovative leadership to establish the Cultural Center and deliver programming and community learning opportunities in arts and culture in the Washington Heights Community.
- Manage relationships with community partners and conduct community outreach to promote the Cultural Center and to ensure accessibility of programs/activities to the community at large.
- Develop and implement an aggressive fundraising plan to raise public and private funds to support the Center's administrative infrastructure and the addition and enhancement of cultural programs.
- Work closely with CCCS/Alianza senior management and the Center's cultural partners for marketing and public relations efforts.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule. The days and hours of work may vary depending on the Center's activities. The ability to work evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays is a must.
Salary: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00
Qualifications
Education and/or experience required:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in arts administration, an Arts/Humanities Discipline, Business Administration, or related field.
- Seven years experience in arts and cultural programming administration, specifically in a leadership role.
- Outstanding relationship-building skills with various constituencies, including elected officials, funders, partner organizations, board, staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Demonstrated success in developing operational strategies and managing programmatic work that involves engaging partners across or external to an organization.
- The ability to balance competing priorities, combined with the agility and flexibility to shift as necessary, is essential to meeting the Center's demands.

- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to engage partners across or external to an organization
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and managerial skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple complex tasks
- Ability to convene and lead meetings
- Computer proficiency
