Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Emergency Services to join our partner regional medical center in Ottumwa, IA. This leadership role is pivotal in providing clinical and administrative direction to the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Position Summary:

The Director of Emergency Services will lead the Emergency Department team, fostering a collaborative and efficient environment. You will champion the implementation of the organization's vision and mission, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and best practices in emergency medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management:
  • Provide strategic and operational oversight of the Emergency Department, promoting excellence in patient care and staff development.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow, resource allocation, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment, encouraging teamwork and collaboration.
• Clinical Expertise:
  • Maintain a high level of clinical knowledge and expertise in emergency medicine.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field and ensure staff competency through ongoing education and training.
  • Participate in clinical care as needed, serving as a resource and mentor to the team.
• Quality and Safety:
  • Champion quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and proactively address any areas of concern.
• Collaboration:
  • Foster strong relationships with physicians, other departments, and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care and organizational success.
  • Act as a liaison between the Emergency Department and other areas of the hospital.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field is required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
• Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in related clinical practice.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in a clinical leadership role.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Current RN license in the state of Iowa.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • TNCC certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
