Position Summary:
The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for using manufacturing improvement methodologies to drive production targets and mentor a team of excellence. Responsible for implementing manufacturing strategies and strategic operational goals, exceeding customer expectations for product quality, cost, and delivery. He/she will analyze work force utilization, facility layout and operational data such as production costs and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of team and equipment. Additionally, the Director of Manufacturing will have responsibility for reducing waste and cost of quality by restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, and continuously assessing manufacturing procedures and training methods.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure the work conducted within the production area is performed in a safe and efficient manner, complying with industry standards.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) across all shifts to assess the effectiveness of manufacturing operations, making data-driven decisions to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to ensure high quality and operational efficiency while nurturing a positive organization culture.
- Formulate and direct manufacturing strategies, quality and manufacturing improvement methodologies, including corrective actions and continuous improvement projects.
- Forecast manufacturing needs and plan resources accordingly, including material and labor demands.
- Work closely with other departments, such as Engineering, Research & Development, and Supply Chain to ensure that manufacturing processes align with overall business objectives and product development needs.
- Manages the manufacturing budget, including operational costs and resource allocation. This involves cost control and finding ways to improve profitability.
- Manage and coordinate 5S activities throughout the production area.

Skills and Experience Required:
- Individual must have knowledge about technical operations, business and financial skills.
- Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This implies good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills.
- Individual must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of people in a wide variety of settings, possessing strong communication skills, maintaining flexibility, objectivity and a capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Individual must be able to coach all employees in a supporting environment that maintains self-esteem and supports functional accountability.
- Individual must be able to handle administrative activities, maintain records, reports, or files. This includes the preparation and maintenance of employee records and documentation.
- Preferred bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering or business administration.
- In a Leadership position, at least 7 years experience in manufacturing and Lean Management.
- Strong knowledge of industry and management methodologies that focus on continuous improvement in manufacturing operations such as Lean Manufacturing, TOC, TQM, ISO.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and implement effective solutions.
- Experience with budgeting, cost management and financial analysis.
- Familiar with ERP systems and other manufacturing software
- Individual must demonstrate the qualities of an Ideal Team Player.
- English language required.
Physical and Other Requirements:
This job is performed indoors in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Job tasks are performed in close proximity to other people and include exposure to strobe lights, sounds and noise levels that could be distracting. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend or crouch. The employee must frequently stand, walk, talk, and occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear alarms and other sensors in a factory environment. Requires use of hands to handle, control or feel objects and operate computer, tools, other office-related equipment and controls.
