Director of Nursing (DON) at JSA
Jersey City, NJ
About the Job
The Director of Nursing oversees the delivery, direction, and quality of 24-hour nursing services provided to participants in the PACE program, both in the center and in-home. Responsibilities include developing nursing objectives, managing nurse staffing, ensuring compliance with New Jersey Board of Nursing standards, and implementing a quality assurance plan. The role also involves budget participation, financial planning, and fostering a work environment that promotes teamwork and ongoing education. Expertise in geriatric care and related nursing standards is essential to this role.
PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a comprehensive healthcare program designed to help older adults remain in their homes and communities rather than move into long-term care facilities. PACE provides a wide range of medical, social, and support services to meet the needs of frail seniors who are eligible for nursing home-level care. These services include primary and specialty medical care, physical therapy, home care, transportation, prescription medications, meals, and social activities, all coordinated through a PACE center.
The goal of PACE is to enhance the quality of life for seniors by offering personalized care plans and a team-based approach, which includes doctors, nurses, social workers, and therapists. PACE participants receive care both at the PACE center and in their homes, ensuring a holistic approach that addresses their physical, emotional, and social well-being. The program is typically available to individuals who are 55 or older, living in a PACE service area, and eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.
