Director of Nursing (DON)
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a critical leadership role responsible for the management and coordination of all nursing activities within the 100+ bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The ADON ensures that all residents receive the highest standard of care by implementing effective nursing policies and maintaining a well-trained and adequately staffed nursing team. This position is instrumental in fostering a safe, supportive, and patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Provide supervision and leadership to all nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.
- Staff Management: Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and ongoing employment of nursing staff, ensuring that staffing levels meet the facility’s needs and that staff skills are current.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor nursing staff conduct and performance, addressing any issues and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Incident Management: Maintain awareness of incidents within the facility, ensuring appropriate response and documentation.
- Resident Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' health needs and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Must possess a current State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in long-term care nursing, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Skills: Proven ability to lead and supervise a diverse nursing team, with strong leadership and organizational skills.
