GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Partners with medical and executive leadership to provide effective delivery of ambulatory clinic-based health care. Provides oversight, support and leadership of the nursing team, including Medical Assistants, to guide their success in achieving corporate and site-specific goals and objectives. Responsible for the overall supervision, coordination and performance of team members. Leads workforce development activities for the nursing team to include recruitment, training, competencies and development. Oversees medical equipment acquisition, training, utilization and maintenance. Effectively manages staff, medical clinic inventory, supplies and equipment to support high-quality patient care. Participate in and provides leadership to corporate committees as assigned and serves as an active participant on the Executive Leadership Team.
SOME ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for the hiring and supervision of nursing department staff, including nurses, medical assistants, referral coordinators, patient care coordinators, laboratory and others as assigned. Schedules staff in accordance with clinician and site schedules and directs team members work activities.
- Partner with the HR team to develop and implement a workforce development plan which provides for training, development and competencies of staff under the leadership of Director of Nursing Services.
- Coordinates and manages laboratory and imaging services, including competencies, equipment, contracts, and results processing as well as the staff involved in the provision of these services.
- Develops, implements, and provides staff training on policies, procedures and protocols governing nursing, laboratory and imaging activities to assure compliance with clinical practice protocols, Joint Commission, CLIA, NCQA standards, HIPAA, OSHA and other federal and state regulatory requirements.
- Provides for staff performance evaluations and competencies to assure compliance with established clinical guidelines, policies and procedures, with corrective actions as needed to maintain a culture of excellence in patient care.
- Collaborates with Director of Substance Use Services, the Behavioral Health Director and the Director of Community Nursing to ensure consistency in expectations across clinical settings.
- Provides for the acquisition, training and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment within the ambulatory clinic setting, including emergency carts. Partner with Supply Chain Specialist to manage medical supply inventory within established par levels.
SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION
Supervised and evaluated by the Chief Executive Officer with input from the Chief Medical Officer, clinicians and other staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Idaho R.N. license.
- Minimum of five years' experience in a nursing director/manager position.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role in nursing operations.
- Experience with accreditation standards such as Joint Commission and NCQA.
- Working knowledge of RN and Medical Assistant competencies / requirements.
- Strong analytical and effective creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Able to establish and maintain effective team-based working relationships Ability to set priorities, be organized, and be a self-starter.
- Ability to develop and support subordinates and provide strong leadership.
- Able to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities and tasks.
- Able to remain calm and effective in high pressure and emergency situations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five or more years' experience directing/managing nursing operations.
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Nursing.
- Experience working with a wide variety of patient populations, including patients living in poverty and individuals of minority groups.
- Experience working within a community health center or related clinical setting.
- Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish).
