RWJBH is seeking a Director of Nursing in the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Clinic and CINJ Infection Prevention at the New Brunswick campus. This is a full-time, day position (40 hours/week).
Nursing Director
+ Provides supervision, guidance and direction to staff nurses, medical health technicians, and advanced practice nurses within the department.
+ Oversees the development and maintenance of clinical competence and the staff member s ability to manage and interpret clinical information in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Works collaboratively with all staff to ensure competence and adherence to CINJ standards of practice.
+ Encourages professional development of all staff and participation in related activities.
+ Utilizes performance improvement data collection and Press Ganey data to develop and implement, then monitor the measure of quality of patient care services in the area.
+ Prepares reports on same for review by the appropriate senior leadership groups.
+ Participates in the planning and implementation of strategies to meet all regulatory & other accreditation agency requirements as they relate to patients receiving cancer care in the area.
+ Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements.
+ Proactively plans to ensure that staffing in the area is adequate to meet patient care needs,
+ Plans staffing that balances requests with unit needs as they relate to patient safety and quality service delivery.
+ Performs in direct care when needed.
+ Provides input and assists in the development of capital and operational budgets as they relate to the delivery of care in the area.
+ Works collaboratively with the Associate Chief Nurse, Director of Professional Practice Development, and the Nurse Educator to develop and implement professional development initiatives for staff.
+ Works collaboratively with the same to identify educational needs of the staff and develop strategies to implement the education.
+ Participates as expert educator for nursing and patient education programs.
+ Contributes to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that are pertinent to service delivery in the area.
+ Applies pertinent research findings and evidence-based practice to nursing practice and assists others to do the same.
+ Understands and adheres to CINJ s/RWJBH s compliance standards as they appear in policies.
+ Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and institutional regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
CINJInfection Preventionist
+ Partners & communicates directly with the RWJUH Director, Infection Prevention of any developments affecting the functions of CINJ and the elements of the Infection Prevention Program.
+ Share data and information with the RWJUH Infection Prevention team.
+ Aligns CINJ with RWJUH Infection Prevention practices.
+ Leads CINJ handwashing activities, observations & compliance.
+ Creates, revises, and updates Infection Prevention policies and procedures within CINJ and the cancer service line.
+ Collaborates with other professions with RWJUH, RWJBH, & CINJ to effect patient safety & the quality of infection prevention.
+ Interprets, clarifies, and supports implementation of infection prevention policies and procedures within all areas of CINJ.
+ Response promptly and positively to infection prevention questions or concerns of staff, patients, families, and physicians.
+ Contributes toward assuring infection prevention compliance within CINJ related to the Joint Commission standards by participating in tracer activities and other surveillance needs.
+ Provides or participates in CINJ educational programs related to infection prevention.
+ Analyzes infection data, facts, and trends while sharing findings appropriately.
+ Functions as a liaison between practicing medical officials and the Centers for Disease Control CDC.
Qualifications:
+ Master s Degree or doctoral preparation in Nursing required,
+ Management experience preferred,
+ Demonstrated leadership qualities required,
+ Oncology Nursing Corporation Certification OCN
