Job Summary and Qualifications
The Sterile Processing Director is responsible for the complete oversight of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). The Director serves as liaison between staff and administrative personnel and works cohesively with Admin Director to develop standards and procedures for providing care and improving quality and efficiencies. They are responsible for promoting strong and effective working relationships with other departments within the facility.
What you will do in this role:
- Accurately identify real/potential problems affecting the service and implements solutions with follow through and communication
- Actively participate in service, departmental and hospital wide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those onerepresents
- Coach subordinates through providing feedback, constructive critique of work,facilitates individual development plan, and documents their job performance
- Effectively communicate departmental, organization and industry information to staff
- Facilitateevidence based employee engagement practices
- Effectively build strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goals
- Participate in employee and patient rounding and identify and mentor potential future leaders
- Enforcestandards of care for surgical services and develops processes to measure and ensure consistent compliance
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing surgical services program which assures quality patient care consistent with the Hospital mission
- Monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy, environmental, patient, and personnel safety
- Oversee a PI program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.
- Maintain responsibility for department’s operational excellence by ensuring delivery of quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards
- Follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne Pathogens
- Enforce safe procedural site and patient verification policy
- Monitor and respond to quality event reporting
- Support new program strategies and/or program enhancements which would expand patient services
- Develop, prioritize and defend capital equipment requests
- Be responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources
- Demonstrate a poised and confident demeanor that reassures others and commands respect within the organization and the community
- Develop and build strategic internal and external networks
- Promote consistent positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- 5+ years SPD experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
