Distinguished Engineer - Card Loyalty Platform
As a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, you will be a part of a community of technical experts working to define the future of banking in the cloud.

Distinguished Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.
As a Distinguished Engineer in the Capital One's Loyalty team you will help us build high quality and resilient features of Capital One's loyalty platform.
The Loyalty platform is an API-first, microservices-based platform run on AWS that allows consumers to earn and redeem loyalty benefits, including points. The Loyalty platform is at the heart of Capital One's value prop and drives significant competitive advantage. You will be on the cutting edge of our serverless platform journey as we explore bold new technologies and innovative capabilities that optimize customer experience and sustainably deliver upon our industry's stringent performance requirements. From deeply understanding the Loyalty ecosystem to building and operating massive scale platforms that are highly resilient and performant, you will drive the organization towards a bright future.

Key responsibilities:
- Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for your domain
- Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions
- Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation
- Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability and operability
- Continue learning and injecting advanced technical knowledge into our community
- Handle several projects simultaneously, balancing your time to maximize impact

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 7 years of experience in software engineering or solution architecture
- At least 3 years of experience designing event-driven architecture
- At least 2 years of experience with Amazon Web Services
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters' Degree
- 12+ years' experience in software engineering or solution architecture
- 7+ years' experience designing and building enterprise platform solutions
- 5+ years' experience with agile practices
- 5+ years' experience with domain driven design
- 5+ years' experience with event-driven architecture
- 5+ years' experience with Amazon Web Services
- 3+ years of experience defining software design, architecture, and engineering practices
- 1+ year of experience implementing target architectures
