POSITION SUMMARY:
As one of the direct reports to the Director of Distribution, the Distribution Center (“DC”) Operations Manager role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for all Distribution Center functions and people. This role leads, develops and engages with a team of extraordinary talent to drive safety and operational excellence within the DC. The DC Operations Manager role motivates, coaches and mentors the DC leadership team, aiding them to develop into the next generation of OSJL leaders. The role leads the team through shift transitions to ensure consistent execution and communication of the handoff plan between shifts. This role understands the importance of a 24/7 operation and focuses on optimizing the customer experience through process adherence and refinement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support all Company and DC safety programs and comply with all OSHA regulations to ensure a safe work environment for all associates and leaders; enhance safety performance through process review.
- Drive and implement business plans to achieve facility goals and implement operational improvements.
- Lead and develop a team of Area Managers who have overall responsibility for 100+ associates. Prepare and administer performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback.
- Identify training and development opportunities for learning and growth; teach, support, and model DC and Company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with peers on other shifts to develop and execute operational and tactical plans. Ensure consistency of operations between functions and shifts. Develop and implement accurate status and feedback mechanisms to improve the flow of work between shifts and functions.
- Act as the primary information source for the DC leadership team; create clear vocal and written reports, communicate effectively and continuously, maintain compliance and consistency, and take corrective action when needed.
- Assist with hiring,training, and mentoring team members. Coach and develop teammates for career progression, performance improvement, and recognition purposes.
- Create, communicate and maintain quality control policies and standard work procedures for Area Managers and associates.
- Evaluate performance objectives and metrics to determine inbound or outbound productivity requirements to achieve customer time, accuracy and quality expectations.
- Partner with other leaders to share best practices across shifts within the DC and to other areas of the business.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- 5 or more years of management experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment is required.
- 2 or more years of experience motivating and leading a diverse workforce is required.
- Experience working with warehouse management systems and other supply chain solutions is required.
- Proven history of decision making authority is required.
- Able to utilize Google platform (i.e. Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).
- Experience in process improvement and lean methodology (i.e. Kaizen, DMAIC) is preferred.
- Experience in warehouse automation (i.e. robotics) is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work primarily in a distribution center environment. Must be able to remain stationary and continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
- Responsible for physical activities including using equipment, position self to properly complete tasks, ascend and descend to heights of 20 feet or more, move and transport merchandise on a frequent basis: should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
- The warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
- Some sedentary and near vision use for reading and computer use.
- Available to work flexible hours including night or weekend shifts during OSJL’s peak holiday season and as needed year-round.

The annual salary range for this position is between $90,000 - $105,000.00. Salary commensurates with experience.
