Position Summary:
Distribution Machine Operator is responsible for setting-up, changing over, and operating the Automailer and CVP packaging machines. Responsible for the quality and efficiency of the machines, including a demonstrated ownership towards correcting operating issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all standard work including safety standards.
- Follow all company policies and general plant rules (GPR’s) as outlined in the handbook.
- Maintain and monitor machine to make sure it functions properly.
- Understands each machines mechanical and system set-up; can adjust machine as needed for changeovers, different functions, or other varying needs.
- Performs minor preventative maintenance and recognizes potential issues to avoid downtime.
- Verifies the completeness of carton contents and assures carton/bags meets quality standards.
- Places carton contents in most efficient spatial arrangement to minimize shipping costs.
- Maintains and tracks machine output by hour.
- Able to train new operators on machine operations and responsibilities.
- Responsible for daily 6S activities, such as organization and safety, housekeeping, verifying adequate materials and supplies are available.
- Work assigned overtime when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of safe machine practices.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Physical agility, technical ability and spatial understanding.
- Coordination and ability to keep up with machines.
- Aptitude to operate machine controls, solid PC skills with ability to utilize software to operate effectively.
- Ability to perform minor equipment maintenance.
- Self-motivated and desire to achieve high level of success.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Capability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work, contribute and succeed in a team environment.
- Capacity to lift 40 pounds repeatedly.
Experience/Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commitment to personal development and willingness to take required training or attend schooling.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
