KERA, the public media organization for North Texas, is hiring a dynamic Donor Relations Officer to serve on KERA’s Development Team. This person will be highly visible in the North Texas community and play a critical role in creating and maintaining strong relationships with the organization’s current and prospective donors and expanding the donor base in Tarrant County for annual giving and in a capital campaign.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
Under the direction of the Director, Major Gifts, the officer will oversee and grow a portfolio of major donors based in Fort Worth and Tarrant County, will be responsible for a personal revenue goal and will share responsibility for the achievement of annual and campaign revenue goals for the department. This individual will also assist with operational, administrative, and event activities designed to engage, cultivate, steward, expand and diversify a group of current and prospective donors for KERA, KXT and WRR.
The ideal candidate will be able to work both collaboratively with staff and independently, executing a strategy for relationship building with donors and exhibiting professionalism in all situations. They will work closely with partners including The Fort Worth Report. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an ability to deliver top-tier customer service and some non-profit fundraising experience.
This position is classified as FLSA exempt, is not eligible for overtime, and reports directly to the Director, Major Gifts.

We expect this position to mostly work from Ft. Worth/Tarrant County but will work out of our Dallas office at least 25% of the time (~1 day/wk).

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Work with staff and board to grow KERA’s major donor base in Fort Worth and Tarrant County for annual and campaign giving.
- Effectively steward the organization’s relationships, increasing retention and giving from a portfolio of individual major donors based in Fort Worth through daily interactions, including written correspondence, phone calls, visits, and events.
- Work with Campaign and Major Gifts team to achieve capital campaign goals with donors in Tarrant County.
- Work with Development and Audience Development teams to implement moves management strategies to identify and cultivate new major donors from mid-level donor base in Tarrant County.
- Work with Grants & Foundations team to develop relationships with institutional funders in Tarrant County.
- Write and/or produce communications related to major donor program including renewal and acknowledgement correspondence, newsletters and invitations.
- Maximize efficiency and accuracy of major donor program by effectively managing donor database account information through ongoing data input, data cleaning, the addition of interactions and research, and regular review of database reports and file pulls.
- Produce daily, monthly reports, yearly reports of departmental fundraising achievements and donor interactions.
- Support execution of marketing strategies and cultivation events for major donor program.
- Participate in department-wide strategic planning, restricted funding solicitation of individuals and foundations, and planned giving program.
- Be an active participant in KERA’s work towards equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging

- 3+ years of non-profit fundraising experience
- Highly organized and detailed to manage the planning and execution of multiple activities at any given time.
- Able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, problem solve and meet deadlines.
- A self-starter who will take charge of an assignment and ask questions asneeded.
- Excellent communicator, including writing, proofreading, and speaking.
- Possesses professional interpersonal and social skills suitable to working with a variety of staff, major donors, leadership volunteers, speakers/entertainers, and their representatives, as well as vendors/contractors.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Always displays high ethics and responsibility.
- Has a keen desire to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Must be able to periodically work on weekends, irregular hours, holidays, and as needed for events.
- Must have valid driver's license and be willing to travel in the North Texas metro area.

SALARY RANGE
- $70,000-80,000 annually depending on experience
