The E S Group Leader provides environmental services to hospital patients, personnel and the public in accordance with Federal, State, Joint Commission standards and overall Hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:- Inspections: Completes at least four general inspection tours throughout the facility daily. Checks assigned areas to ensure work is being completed in a safe and efficient manner per department standards. Make all necessary corrections as needed.
- Public Areas: Inspects areas at beginning of shift and while touring; makes all corrections immediately
- Discharges: Inspects at least 20% of discharges daily and records on Evening Discharge Log. Make all necessary corrections as needed.
- Projects: Observes and determines need for projects and submits a list to Operations Manager. Coordinates activities of the project team to ensure that work is completed in a safe and efficient manner; prescribed methods are used in completing all work; department quality and quantity standards are met. Assist in the completion of projects as needed.
- Quality: Promotes standard of cleanliness in the area of responsibility as a source of pride to the department and Administration.
- Training/Development: Each employee is retrained per schedule; annual in-service and special education completed with documentation submitted to Operations Manager. Leadership style will promote individual achievement and development. Disciplinary action will be taken when appropriate.
- Morale: Leadership style and conduct will promote individual and departmental dignity and worth. Will make effective use of positive reinforcement.
- Relationships: Leadership style and conduct will promote healthy relations with all levels of hospital personnel, patients, visitors and the public. Knows names and maintains daily contact with key people.
- Organization: Will make efficient use of time and resources, completing special assignments and regular duties in a timely, professional and organized fashion.
- Communication: Communicates with management in verbal and written form daily.
- Department Oversight: Takes full charge of 2nd and 3rd shift operations. In absence of Operations Manager assumes responsibility for the department.
- Storage Areas/Equipment: Maintains storage areas and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
- Demonstrates knowledge of how other departments function relating to Environmental Services.
- Knows and uses all correct names, mixing ratios, limits, hazards of the chemicals, products and equipment used by the department.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs or experience.
- Minimum of three months experience, including all phases of housekeeping operations.
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
