About the Job
The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the Environmental Health & Safety program to ensure continuous improvement and regulatory compliance. This position will take initiative to identify opportunities and implement efficient best management practices while collaborating with various core business operations.
Highlights of your role:- Ensure written EHS related processes exist and facility personnel remain compliant; documentation/review of relevant internal controls in collaboration with cross functional teams.
- Track and analyze data on leading and lagging metrics
- Review and investigate injury and near miss data
- Perform EHS compliance reviews and submit formal reports to internal management and external regulatory departments as required
- Coordinate and Support Safety and Environmental committees, audits and inspections
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable safety & environmental governing agencies and regulations; manage all necessary data collection for reporting and ensure compliance.
- Drive and maintain facility readiness for internal and external audits
- Take ownership and be a leader as the EHS expert providing guidance to the facility and identified solutions.
- Annual professional development in addition to the required education/training of this position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 2-years' experience in environmental health and safety
- Ability to effectively collaborate with Operations and be able to balance safety with business needs.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards (OSHA 30 Strongly Preferred)
- The following courses/certifications/trainings are strongly preferred:
- 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response
- Forklift Train-The-Trainer Certified
- First Aid, BBP and CPR/AED Certified (Train-The-Trainer preferred)
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Strong Communication and training skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Solid foundation of safety knowledge
- Work independently and be a self-starter
