Summary
You will serve as a ENGINEER or SCIENTIST in the SUBMARINE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING BRANCH of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. You will serve as the Lead Systems Engineer for the Submarine Acoustic Systems project (Virginia (VA) and Columbia (CLB) class).
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 & GS-13. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 & GS-15.

Duties
- You will serve as the Lead Systems Engineer for the Submarine Acoustic Systems project (Virginia (VA) and Columbia (CLB) class).
- You will be responsible for a variety of tasks involving the research, design, and development of complex state-of-the-art electronic equipment and systems.
- You will support the Submarine Acoustic Systems (VA and CLB) leads, department heads, or program managers through their responsibility of the technical integrity of all products delivered.
- You will provide technical leadership to a diverse team of government and contractor employees in the design and acquisition process, including analysis, requirements definition, performance verification, and system certification.
- You will lead cross-disciplinary/organization teams to resolve engineering issues found in plant, shipyard, or at sea, ensuring thorough analysis assessments are conducted and solutions are executed with satisfactory system performance.
- You will ensure technical coordination across SONAR related projects from multiple Program Offices (e.g. PMS401, PMS450E, PMS397E), including commonality efforts between the Virginia and Columbia classes.
- You will participate in the development of the latest Technology Insertion (TI) hardware baseline and the associated advanced processer build (APB) software, which contains the latest functionality for integration.
- You will be required to demonstrate experience with acoustic propagation, noise characteristics and boundary interactions as they relate to development of
analysis products. - You will develop and maintain professional relationships internal and external to Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Newport, RI Division at senior levels.
- You will be required to present project status and engineering analysis briefings to high-level personnel from the various Program Offices, NUWC leadership, and contractor organizations.
