Join and our Head Start program and join our ultimate goal of strengthening child-parent relationships and building a strong foundation before kindergarten. The Education Coach works with site teams to support them in effectively developing their classroom environment, using curriculum, and planning educational experiences for children from birth to age 5. The person in this position will model, consult, and provide guidance and resources to classrooms in the areas of classroom management, individualization, lesson planning and curriculum implementation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
- Three years of experience working in preschool classrooms, with two years of experience in Head Start preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with adults in a helping or teaching capacity and ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
- Driver Qualification Status required for this position. Valid Driver License and insured vehicle available for use on the job with satisfactory drive record for the past 3 years required.
- Registration with the Office of Child Care Division's Central Background Registry.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
- Candidate must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
- Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) reliability certification or ability to obtain.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in the use of computers and related information technologies.
- Effective communication skills with individuals and groups.
- Ability to follow through on instructions, both written and oral.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
Practice Based Coaching
- Utilizes Practice Based Coaching strategies to develop routine system of observations, reflective coaching, and goal planning for assigned teaching staff.
- Utilizes Monthly Environment Checklist as part of observation for monitoring classroom environments.
- In consultation with the Education Manager, Education Specialist, and Regional Team Resource Specialists, provides mentoring, coaching, guidance and direction for Teachers and Teacher Assistants in the performance of their responsibilities in the classroom and on home visits.
- Attends monthly meetings with Education Manager and Coaches team.
Education Component Support
- Assists teaching teams with creating developmentally appropriate and culturally inclusive learning environments, including setting up new classrooms.
- Reviews lesson plans and daily classroom activities.
- Ensures implementation of curriculum materials and resources for classroom staff.
- Provides technical assistance related to education paperwork and individualization plans.
- Supports staff in appropriate usage of classroom environment space and equipment.
- Participates in Head Start and Kindergarten Transition meetings as needed to help teachers and participates in organizational process as needed.
- Models appropriate interactions with children and adults.
- Works with site staff in developing and utilizing effective Green Zone Positive Behavioral Intervention & Support (PBIS) classroom strategies.
- Works in partnership with all members of the Education Team to promote a comprehensive approach to education throughout the program.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency utilizing Teaching Strategies Gold and other program systems and provides technical assistance for education staff.
- Substitutes in classrooms for absent teaching staff as needed.
Training, Professional Development and Presentations
- Participates in meetings with local school districts and kindergarten teachers.
- Provide training, guidance, direction, and technical assistance for Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and other assigned staff and volunteers.
- Attends training as required including pre-service, new staff orientation, and other professional development as directed.
- Complies with MWVCAA safety and personnel policies, including punctuality and attendance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory duties in this position.

- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity for handling office equipment.
- Occasional driving to Agency Head Start and Early Head Start sites.
- Handles situations that fall outside of Agency policies and guidelines under the direction of a supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Mostly indoor classroom and office work environment.
- Frequent outdoor supervision of children and monitoring pick up/drop off.
- Working with coworkers/clients over the phone and in-person.
- Occasional noise and distractions in work spaces.
- Occasional remote work as approved by supervisor.
- Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
