About the Job
*Duties:* *This position will cover all Department of Correction facilities located in the Northern Sector (NCCI-Gardner, Souza Baranowski Correctional Center, Northeastern Correctional Center and MCI-Shirley). This role involves ensuring effective deployment, management, and maintenance of tablets to support educational and vocational programming for incarcerated individuals and staff. The specialist must be flexible to travel as needed to meet the varied needs of the incarcerated population and staff within the facilities.* * *· Provide tablet and technology support throughout the Northern Sector, with the flexibility to travel between facilities as needed to address the specific needs of the incarcerated population and staff. · Work with MADOC and Education staff to deploy & replace tablets on-site, help users manage the tablets, and troubleshoot issues to resolution. · Manage the deployment schedule of tablets as well as the on-site education and housing unit usage. · Obtain content training, both directly from partner companies, as well as self-learning to develop expertise in the different programs being offered on the tablets. · Assist with daily tablet distribution procedures and protocols as needed to assist MADOC and Education staff. · Offer technical support and program support to the academic teams, staff and incarcerated individual population · Offer vocational technical support on the tablets and provide support to vocational instructors and administrators to enhance the use of the tablets in vocational education programs. · Assist the staff in on-boarding new users, tablet provisioning process, troubleshooting, and ensuring all programs are in technical working order on the tablet. · Assist the Manager of Technology and the internal tablet team to track and meet deliverable dates in the SOW or project plan, and make sure deadlines are adhered to. · Escalate any issues that would keep the tablet team or MADOC from meeting deadlines. · Evaluate and resolve technical support requests according to set procedures. · Train staff and instructors on how to use the tablet platform and services, as well as engage end users. · Monitor end-user data usage to report back to the MADOC with quantitative data and data summary. · Oversee tablet content development projects, training or data projects. · Oversee the maintenance of the tablet provided content. · Update IMS case plan as required by SOP. · Complete the required 40 hours of training within the fiscal year. Maintain a record of all professional development and DOC trainings attended. · Update SSTA timecard promptly to ensure that payroll is processed accurately. · Illustrate an understanding of current educational practices. · Implement current, research-based educational practices in the classroom. · Illustrate a comprehensive and current knowledge of DOC policies and procedures. · Complete duties as assigned that support the Division’s mission. · Engage in Division priorities to enhance the progression of strategic goals. · Collaborate with other professionals, both inside and outside of the Division of Inmate Training and Education, to contribute to the goals of the Division. · Interact with staff in a professional manner, utilizing appropriate boundaries. · Interact and communicate with incarcerated individuals in a professional manner while utilizing appropriate boundaries. · Report any and all security related concerns to your supervisor promptly. · Maintain a current and up-to-date inventory of tablet equipment. · Maintain a safe, secure and clean working area. · Travel between facilities when necessary for operational needs. · Flexible weekly schedule to accommodate extended learning opportunitiesand respond to immediate needs. *Preferred Qualifications:* Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in technology or a related field with 2-3 years of experience in the field of IT. Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong verbal and written communication skills. General understanding of technology based educational programs. Technical support experience preferred. Background and experience in criminal justice, corrections, or education. Knowledge of education in the correctional setting. Possess the attitude and temperament to work in a correctional setting. *Comments: * This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in education or special education, educational administration or educational counseling may be substituted for the required experience.* *Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
