Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy. We currently have an opportunity for an EPSI Manager at our Washington, D.C. location.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for having lead technical authority of the Electric Propulsion System Integration (EPSI) groups including subcontractors and other assigned FMM personnel. The EPSI Engineering group is composed primarily of matrixed support from Project Engineers, as well as the Functional Engineering groups. The EPSI Manager will assist in defining and executing Contract Requirements assigned to the engineering disciplines under his/her direct supervision as well as indirectly for all engineering efforts. The EPSI Manager will define each group's resources, supervise and direct assigned personnel to achieve group commitments. The EPSI Manager shall routinely represent the Engineering department to internal and external customers. The EPSI Manager is responsible for the EPSI engineering across all Engineering Department efforts at FMM primarily on the FFG 62, but may include other projects as applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Direct and supervise EPSI Engineers and all other assigned employees working on products within the EPSI scope. Enhance the capabilities and strengthen the individual weaknesses of assigned employees while individually contributing to the completion of assigned.
* Develop supplier Scope of Work (SOW) documents to accurately define subcontracted work scope.
* Review engineering deliverables provided by engineering subcontractors.
* Work with customer during engineering product review cycles to validate comments provided are in accordance with contractual documents and relay comments for incorporation to engineering subcontractors.
* Interface with other functional engineering trades to make sure that EPSI equipment and systems are fully integrated into auxiliary support and control systems.
* Maintain integrated EPSI Schedule; provide status and metrics for engineering leadership.
* Attend and potentially lead "as required" meetings to generate resolution of issues on specific projects. Participants of these meetings involve a diverse field of participants across a range of shipyard functions related to EPSI topics. Meetings may also include participation by other internal and external Engineering customers.
* Attend or lead "as required" meetings are established and supported with FMM Project Customers to assist in the resolution of technical issues related to equipment and mechanical system design.
* Resource Management as related to EPSI Engineering commitments.
* Standard process updates and reviews.
* Group process enhancements and improvements.
* Internal customer (manufacturing) process productivity improvements.
* Create/review/refresh metrics required to effectively estimate projected costs.
* Validate estimated projected costs with observed (actual) data.
* Provide input to develop detailed plan with commitment dates for execution.
* Provide commitment to and execute work to estimated budget and duration.
* Establish resource requirements, assist Human Resources (HR) in filling the requirements, and manage as needed to support FMM acquired projects.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises up to 5 direct employees, depending on assigned resources and workload. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee's workspace is in a clean and comfortable climate-controlled setting with little to no exposure to the moving equipment, elements, extreme conditions, or risk of injury. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. When entering the shipyard, the work environment is not climate-controlled and there is exposure to moving equipment, etc.

PAY RANGE: $126,380.80-195,858.00
This range represents the overall market pay rate for candidates who meet the necessary qualifications and experience requirements for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and performance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* The EPSI Manager must have as a minimum a B.S. in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
* The EPSI Manager must have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience with groups of up to 5 people in one or more of the disciplines discussed above (Project Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering).
* A minimum of 2 years' experience related to marine propulsion systems is required for this position.
* The EPSI Manager must be familiar with typical Regulatory Body Requirements associated with the shipbuilding industry (i.e. NAVSEA, ABS, 46 CFR, IEEE, and The US Coast Guard).
* Must be eligible for a Security Clearance (U.S., Secret).
SKILLS:
* Personal competencies should include strong time management, complex problem solving, and dispute resolution skills. Additionally the ability to professionally and formally (via written correspondence) communicate is a prime skill.
* Experience with conducting system level analysis related to the following:
* Shipboard Electric Propulsion
* Torsion
* Noise
* Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
* Shaft alignment
* Dynamic response analysis
* Be able to review and analyze the following types of engineering documents:
* Shipboard cable one lines and routing drawings
* Shipboard piping and auxiliary system diagrams
* Foundation drawings
* Mounting and Installation drawings
* Possess an understanding of machinery control system software architecture
* The EPSI Manager must have the drive and discipline to monitor, maintain and enforce existing department policies and procedures, as well as develop said procedures as they are required to support new contract project requirements.
* Strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* The EPSI Manager must have the ability to maintain a professional demeanor, particularly in time critical or resource challenged scenarios.
* Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
