Job Summary:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of electrical systems. This role involves working with high-voltage and low-voltage equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Create detailed designs for switchgear systems, including circuit breakers, panel boards, and other components.
Develop and review technical specifications and requirements for switchgear products.
Perform simulations and tests on switchgear designs to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, UL) and regulations.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management, to ensure successful product development.
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of design processes, calculations, and test results.
Assist in troubleshooting design issues and provide technical support during the manufacturing and installation phases.
Identify opportunities for design improvements and innovations in switchgear technology.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5+years of experience in electrical design, specifically with switchgear or power distribution systems.
Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools; strong understanding of electrical principles and power systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of software like AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar design tools.
Experience with power system analysis software.
Familiarity with emerging technologies in switchgear and power distribution.
