What You’ll Do:
- Electrical Design & Circuit Development:
Design electric motor controls for overhead cranes and hoists, preparing single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and interconnect drawings. - Example: Create electrical schematics for cranes operating at 800V DC and 4160V AC.
- Component Sizing & Specification:
Specify components such as magnetic motor starters, relays, and AC inverters, ensuring compliance with electrical standards. - Example: Calculate wire sizes and protection ratings to ensure safety and performance.
- Cross-Team Collaboration:
Work with mechanical engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and refine control systems that meet operational requirements. - Example: Participate in design reviews and collaborate on problem-solving sessions.
- Field Support & Troubleshooting:
Travel domestically (up to 10%) to troubleshoot PLC control systems and improve onsite performance. - Example: Resolve issues related to control system performance in real-world conditions.
- Continuous Improvement:
Provide feedback for design improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
Requirements
Who We’re Looking For:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required. - Experience:
- 3-7 years of experience in electrical engineering focused on motor controls and electrical design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (preferably AutoCAD Electrical 2016) or similar CAD software.
- Experience in PLC programming with systems like Rockwell, Siemens, or Danfoss.
- Working knowledge of the NEC Electrical Code.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience specifying magnetic motor starters, relays, and AC inverters.
- Strong PLC & HMI programming skills, with hands-on troubleshooting experience.
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with Zuken E3 software for electrical design.
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or Danfoss PLC/VFD programming.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve control system challenges in the field.
