The Tennessee Aquarium Electrician is responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and lighting systems, as well as assisting other CMS staff with construction and maintenance related projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for installation of electrical equipment in compliance with all applicable codes in relation to new construction
- Responsible for troubleshooting and preventive maintenance on electrical and lighting equipment
- Stay current on all required safety training
- Interact with vendors and sub-contractors
- Follow company safety policies, particularly related to lockout/tagout
- Maintain electrical equipment and material stock including lamps, ballasts, heaters fuses, etc.
- Oversee lamp recycling and ballast disposal program
- Maintain electrical equipment manuals in an orderly fashion
Key Requirements
- Experience with installation and troubleshooting of building automation, lighting controls, and PLCs
- Familiar with the use of computerized maintenance management systems
- Experienced with installing data, phone, audio and sound system wiring and devices
- Infrared testing of electrical distribution systems
- OSHA 10-hour General Industry or Construction License
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Four-year electrical apprenticeship, trade school equivalent or formal military technical training equivalent
- Four years' experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction and/or electrical maintenance
- City of Chattanooga Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Driver's license (not an employment disqualifier, only required in order to operate Aquarium vehicles specifically)
- Self-motivated team player, good communication skills with the ability to interact with co-workers and guests in a way that promotes our core values and service standards
- Ability to read and understand architectural, mechanical, electrical, control drawings, and specifications
- Proven experience with the installation and maintenance of 480/277, 208/120-volt lighting, power and distribution systems
- Familiar with OSHA required safety protocol as described by NFPA 70E
- Proven ability to understand and comply with electrical code requirements for electrical installations
Full-time, hourly (Starting at $29.81/hour, commensurate on experience); must be able to work some weekends and holidays as needed.
