Under general direction, our client is seeking to hire a full-time IMSA & NEC certified Electrician for various Traffic Signal Maintenance projects in Southern California. The Electrician will be expected to work on Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) related projects. Specific types of work include conducting Preventative Maintenance checks and repairs on Traffic Signals, Flashing Beacons, Solar Radar Feedback signs, Street Lighting, and other electrical components as required by the customer.
DUTIES
- Willingness and capability to work on traffic signals, streetlights, and other Intelligent Transportation Equipment, using a bucket truck.
- Inspect, install, and maintain electrical components.
- Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices such as traffic signal circuits, cabinets, transformers, circuit breakers, services, streetlight luminaires, CCTV, and communications equipment.
- Terminate and splice Fiber Optic cable in various mediums.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current/Active NEC Certification (Required).
- Experience in Fiber Optic splicing, termination, and installation. Knowledge of utilizing fiber optic splicing equipment and splicing methodologies.
- Corning Fiber Optic certification or equivalent.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds)
- C10 Electrical contractors license preferred, but not required.
- Fiber Optic Association Certification is preferred, but not required
BUSINESS TRAVEL & HOURS
- 100% travel to project locations and company facilities across the various counties within the San Francisco Bay Area and Stockton.
- Some or all hours may be during 3rd shift
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand, walk, squat, and bend at the waist for extended periods
- Safety sensitive position—will be required to work at busy traffic intersections
- Required to drive up to five hours a day;ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- May work in various, changing outdoor weather conditions, i.E. Rain, heat, snow, etc.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT
