Electrician
Chatham University is accepting applications for the position of Electrician.
The electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of buildings' and grounds' electrical systems, circuits, equipment and fixtures. The electrician is also responsible for operating and maintaining the portions of the phone, data, and television cable system, including, but not limited to the termination of the phone, data, and television cable systems and moving and updating phone numbers.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Install, operate, maintain, and repair AC and DC electrical wiring systems, power sources, laboratory equipment and other components such as conduit, electrical panels, signal and alarm systems, lighting, receptacles relays and controls, motors, generators, rectifiers, transformers, etc.
- Replace interior and exterior lamps as necessary at varying heights.
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical circuits and components.
- Troubleshoot equipment, utilizing testing devices.
- Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, telephone cabling, terminations and equipment.
- Install data cabling and terminations to meet CAT 5 specifications.
- Perform or assist in performance of any of the following: preparation of cost estimates, preparation of material orders, maintenance of records and preparation of reports.
- Because of necessary fluctuations of workloads in the skill area, an incumbent in this class may be required on an occasional basis and according to need to perform duties outside his trade area at a level of skill the same or lower than required by his ordinary assignment.
Physical Requirements:
- Electrical work may, at times, be physically demanding requiring lifting heavy weights manually, up to 50 lbs. and to lift and transport conduit and equipment with others in excess of 200 lbs.
- Electricians must be able to stoop and bend for long periods of time and work in confined space.
- At times, electricians must work in utility tunnels, steam vaults and mechanical equipment rooms, all of which may be in excess of 100 degrees and have high noise levels.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must possess at least 5 years of experience in the electrical trade.
- Must hold at least a journeyman's electrician license that is recognized in the city of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
- Must have the skills, knowledge and experience in distribution, installation, and repair of electrical systems from the transformer to the user.
- Must have the ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Salary:
This position will be filled at the hourly rate of $30.08. 40-hour work week.
