About the Job
Position Overview:
Lead an Electrical Cabling and Infrastructure upgrade project. Coordinate with subsystem leads to ensure that cabling needs are captured and managed satisfactorily. Generate cabling routing plans and cable tray designs and ensure NEC compliance. Manage contractor design of AC distribution hardware and review for NEC compliance. Interact with internal and external stakeholders to ensure objectives are met.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, installation planning for the AC distribution, cabling distribution and routing planning, rack procurement, for various functional systems. This may include directing the activities of other personnel to complete any required tasks.
- Provide documentation including drawings, schematics, parts lists, specifications, statements of work, QA documents, Interface documents, and any revision control required, as per company and project requirements.
- Work for other projects of diverse scope under limited direction, independently determine and develop approach to solutions as required.
- Contribute to design, installation, and implementation of cabling plans for programmatic and experimental systems, ensuring NEC compliance.
- Interact with internal and external personnel while maintaining a proactive customer-oriented philosophy.
Other duties may include:
- Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct operational and experimental testing and evaluate results. Keep all software and documentation up to date.
- Contribute in the management of cost and schedule for assigned Projects. Specifically, provide cost estimates, manage procurements, and lead installation efforts, system integration and testing for all installation/upgrade projects.
- Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
- Specify and purchase hardware for related jobs.
Marginal:
- Contribute to the development of technical organization goals and objectives.
- Assignments may require supervising the activities of exempt and non-exempt personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical engineering for electronics systems and scientific apparatus or related field in a large facility.
- Experience with designing electrical system in buildings or facilities.
- Experience with design/implementation in experimental electronics systems. Detailed design and documentation experience with NEC code compliance, rack layouts, and cabling plans
- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD
- Experience with 3D CAD software, such as Creo Parametric
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of the NEC code pertaining to AC Distribution and Programmatic equipment installation in an industrial setting
- Familiarity with project management experience which may include personnel assignment/supervision and cost/schedule management.
- Ability to work on projects of diverse scope.
- Experience managing contractor electrical design work.
- Ability to display good engineering judgement when selecting work methods and techniques.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse pool of scientists, engineers, technicians, and students.
Good to have:
- Experience with project management tasks including cost estimating and scheduling. Experience with Gantt style software.
- Familiarity with procurement processes including, any documentation for going out to bid for a high dollar procurement.
Certificates & Licenses
- Preferred: California PE License for Electrical Engineering
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 10-20 lbs; climbing or balancing on ladders/scaffolding, etc.
