Description
Axiom is seeking an Electronics Technician to focus on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing telemetry communications systems and gas management systems. The Electronics Technician will work with mechanical, electrical and communication equipment, systems, and programs. Overseeing various types of electronic equipment. In addition to servicing and installing equipment, the Electronics Technician will run tests on equipment to locate issues. They also order parts if needed, and install replacement parts, including reassembling circuit boards or motor components.
The ideal candidate should be computer-minded and enjoy working with their hands, as well as have experience using electronic testing equipment and reading wiring diagrams and schematics and also be a critical thinker, analytical problem solver, and an organized person to maintain equipment and service records.
When not performing routine equipment maintenance or repair, the Electronics Technician will work closely with the Facilities Lead in maintaining and repairing the facility and other meteorological equipment. Proficient experience using tools will be needed such as hand held power tools, drill presses, band-saws, etc. The Electronics Technician will be expected to travel for training or needed support to Weather Forecasting Offices (50% travel).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Test and implement electrical systems and products based on specifications
- Monitor preventive maintenance and inspection schedules
- Repair and maintain electronic systems as needed
- Perform system testing to evaluate performance and functionality
- Maintain inventory of electronic components and tools
- Recommend upgrades and modifications to improve system performance
- Perform startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification on assigned equipment.
- Complete all administrative responsibilities on all work activities including daily reports, expense reports and preventive maintenance logs.
- Provide telephone support for customers.
- Work with customers, partners and technical support to resolve escalated issues.
- Demonstrate positive customer relationship building and management skills.
- Conduct Operator Training Class presentations and On the Job Training of Electronic Technicians.
- Perform 90-day preventive maintenance duties on meteorological equipment (ASOS) as prescribed by the technical manual.

Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred or similar experience in electronics, electrical theory or similar discipline desirable and or military training equivalent.
- 2-5 years of repair of electrical, electro-mechanical or electronics related equipment.
- Computer literacy with standard business applications.
- Complete competence at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment such as digital voltmeter, AC clamp meter and other electronic test devices.
- Fully adept at reading and interpreting schematics, drawings, and theory of operation manuals.
- Thorough understanding of principles of AC and DC power, various AC and DC supply circuit components.
- Appropriate safety techniques and practices associated with job requirements.
- Ability to write business reports, correspondence, procedures, effectively present information and respond to customer questions.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Good troubleshooting, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills, customer relations skills, and attention to detail.
