VIRSIG has an exciting opportunity for an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Analyst. The EOC Analyst plays a vital role in monitoring, analyzing, and coordinating emergency operations. You’ll help ensure real-time response to critical situations, working closely with internal and external stakeholders, first responders, and local authorities. This role involves tracking incidents, delivering situational reports, and supporting the execution of effective emergency response strategies. This is a long-term contract role at a government facility in the Jersey City, NJ area.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and regularly reassess the scope and impact of incidents (local, regional, national), keeping leadership, managers, internal and external stakeholders informed by providing continuous operational situational awareness through alerts, notifications, reports, and specific situational briefing documents
- Proactively collect, analyze, and process data for action and reporting; monitor real-time data feeds, social media, and official sources (e.g., National Weather Service, emergency alerts, law enforcement) for potential and ongoing emergency events
- Analyze information from various sources to assess the severity of incidents and provide actionable intelligence to emergency response teams
- Facilitate communication between internal teams, first responders, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated emergency response efforts
- Prepare and deliver situation reports, briefings, and updates to management and field personnel regarding the status of ongoing emergencies
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, actions taken, and communication logs for reference and post-event analysis
- Use emergency management software, mapping tools, and other technology platforms to track incidents and resources in real-time
- Assist in the development and updating of emergency plans, procedures, and protocols
- Participate in drills and training exercises
- Contribute to after-action reviews by analyzing response efforts, identifying lessons learned, and recommending improvements
- Track and manage resources (personnel, equipment, etc.) during an emergency to ensure effective deployment
- Ensure that all activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including FEMA guidelines and the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
- Assist leadership by maintaining common operating vision
- Act as the primary interface with client leadership and internal and external stakeholders concerning ongoing operations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Homeland Security, or related field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an emergency operations center, disaster response, or crisis management environment
- Experienced in 24/7/365 working environments with extensive coordination/collaboration with multiple stakeholders from federal/state/local agencies
- Ability to think critically and communicate highly complex information accurately, clearly, and in proper context while working collaboratively in an often-stressful team environment
- Intermediate to advanced skills in using personal computers and their applications, such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and other basic programs that use internet and computer-based communication tools
- Ability to draft and disseminate written reports and request for information
Preferred Qualifications
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse groups of people throughout all levels of the organization
- Patience and flexibility in responding to frequently changing requirements and/or management styles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to deliver clear and concise briefings
- Familiarity with emergency management frameworks, such as Incident Command System (ICS) and NIMS
- Knowledge of public safety communications systems and protocols
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in emergency management software and tools (eg, WebEOC, GIS mapping systems)
- Ability to work under pressure in high-stress environments and make quick decisions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify solutions, and exercise independent judgment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask within different platforms to maintain situational awareness of current events or tasks pertinent to the customer and stakeholders
