Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the technical design and engineering schedule of the application electrical systems found in a SCR system. The Electrical Engineer executes the electrical design phase of the project in a timely manner and provides a technical design that satisfies the customer’s requirements while being sensitive to the project budget. This person will interface with an internal fabrication shop, external fabricators, external engineered-component suppliers, and third-party engineers. The Electrical Engineer will have multiple projects running concurrently. In addition to executing projects, the Electrical Engineer may provide a limited amount of support to sales, aftermarket, and field service.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Develop the complete technical design of electrical panels, including junction boxes, heater control panels, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), motor starter panels, variable frequency drives, and general motor controls.
Extensive knowledge of how to lay out the internal components inside a panel for the engineered products listed above.
Generate the following engineering drawings related to panel design: panel external layout drawings, back panel internal layout drawings, wiring diagrams.
Understand and generate logic diagrams, specifically SAMA process control logic diagrams and Boolean ladder logic diagrams.
Understanding of P&IDs and how the components on a P&ID are translated to panel designs, wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams.
Incorporates customer specifications and requirements into equipment design.
Generate the following additional supplementary engineering deliverables: one-line diagrams, cause and effect tables, cable schedules, conduit and routing plans.
Provides technical support for fabricators during the fabrication of equipment.
Performs inspection of equipment (including factory acceptance test) at fabricators’ shop
Communicates directly with customers, suppliers, fabricators, and sales.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
Five (5) years minimum experience designing electrical systems.
Experience designing control panels based on relay or PLC / DCS control.
Working knowledge of related codes and standards, including NEC (NFPA 70), in particular the industrial portions as well as both non-hazardous and Class 1, Division 2, Groups C&D hazardous applications.
Working knowledge of UL-508A panel design
Common understanding of industrial analog and discrete circuits
Design and Drafting in AutoCAD based software.
Proficiency in technical writing
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of plant process control and monitoring is a plus.
Experience with the layout and design of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
Utility, Refinery, and Petrochemical experience a plus
Knowledge of designing, implementing, and testing of HART protocol systems.
Ability to test circuits using a multimeter and clamp on amprobe.

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job. Visits to our manufacturing facility and suppliers’ facilities is required to monitor active projects and address design issues.
