JOB SUMMARY
Pursues state of the art development techniques to develop and validate autonomous driving functions. Develops and configures tools for model-based software toolchain and provides engineering analysis from tests and simulation and reports findings. The position will receive limited direction from the manager and provide guidance to junior staff. Must be able to use independent judgment extensively.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develops, implements, and maintains model-based software and participates in the deployment of the model-based development (MBD) process within ITCA.

2. Develops and improves modeling capabilities, methodologies, processes, and tools. Develops specifications for software functions.

3. Performs statistical design of experiment (DOE) models and optimizations for tests and simulations.

4. Conducts hardware performance analysis simulations and optimization tasks. Performs simulation and functional testing using Model-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop.

5. Contributes to the promotion of MBD techniques throughout the vehicle engineering process. Integrates, tests, and validates software modules and components.

6. Proactively works with software and testing engineers who are responsible for function development, verification, and validation

7. Works with Isuzu global teams in the development of high-fidelity models and software Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: VP, Autonomous Driving
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
- Master’s degree in engineering
- Seminar/industrial training/experience in specialty preferred (Matlab/Simulink/ /ISO3450x/TruckSim/Jenkins/ROS1/ROS2/Autoware)
- Excellent coding skill in Python and C++
- Minimum five years’ experience in automotive related research and development, concentrated experience in autonomous development
KNOWLEDGE
- Advanced knowledge of automotive products
- Considerable knowledge of automotive mechanical/electrical systems
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent PC skills in Windows and Linux applications
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Advanced skills in autonomous development as demonstrated by scholarly/industrial achievements
- Ability to organize/develop project goals and time schedules in area of responsibility
- Advanced report writing and analytical skills
PHYSICAL STANDARDS
Employee must be able to perform occasional light lifting (5 - 25 lbs.) and rare heavy lifting (60 lbs.).
Must be able on rare occasions to bend, crawl, climb, crouch, kneel and reach above shoulder level in the performance of job duties. Must be able to work in hot, cold, and high-altitude extremes.
Position requires 10 - 15% travel, including overnight and weekend stays.
Pay scale for this position is between $92,161 and $117,505. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
