The Powerplant Engineer II works and coordinates with the Sr. Manager in developing technical recommendations, and plans to support reliability program requirements, FAA/QA/CASS audit findings, and improve key operational metrics. Develops engine removal forecasts, provides support to lessors regarding engine LLPs, hour/cycle accruals, and other contractual data, and support finance regarding contract requirements, developing engine maintenance budgets, and performing cost analyses.
- Create engine removal forecast (engine rank list).
- Review engine and APU work scopes prior to induction into the shop and ensure work was accomplished in accordance with the work scope prior to engine return to service.
- Develop engine maintenance programs such as Engine washes to optimize the on-wing life of the engine.
- Provides oversight and technical direction for assigned equipment.
- Responsibilities including engine level work scope, Reliability Program and Maintenance Programs support.
- Responsible for development of technical recommendations/justifications for corrective action plans due to Reliability Program requirements and various FAA/QA/CAS audit findings.
- Write projects for SB and AD compliance.
- Monitor engine and APU ADs.
- Practices safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures
- Mentors Powerplant Engineer I
- Creates Reliability improvements to the fleet
- Provide maintenance recommendations
- Support line and heavy maintenance in troubleshooting and providing corrective actions.
- Domestic & International travel under 10% of time.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access) and AutoCAD (or similar CAD software).
- Ability and willingness to work beyond the normal 40 hours per week, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to travel at any time to off-site locations and work outside in any weather conditions.
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate. (e.g. emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments.)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in
- 3-5 years' experience
- Minimum 3 yrs experience in related field
- Airframe & Powerplant Certification (a plus)
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and related information.
- Capable of conducting basic financial analysis to determine cost/benefit relationships.
- Ability to effectively generate detailed engineering documents.
- Ability to interpret analytical reports, FARs, ADs and other engineering documents/drawings.
- Provides communication to Tech Ops leadership for significant issues on assigned equipment/responsibilities.
- Support the development of the engine maintenance budget (removal forecast) for Spirit engines and performing cost analysis to address budgetary issues.
- Support the development of costing data, engine removal forecasts, and other technical aspects of the contracts as required.
- Must demonstrate the ability to use and adapt to standard MS computer software and various web applications
- Familiarity with commercial aviation parts and tools preferred
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all interfacing co-worker, vendors and suppliers.
- Must be able to work various shifts
- Must be able to quickly analyze and improve tooling requirements and mitigate line down scenarios
- Must be able to support maintenance at remote location and countries
- Must be able to effectively present ideas to management and team

- Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
