Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. We are seeking an Engineering Drafting Technician II at our Kenai or Homer facility. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures overall concepts and details are accurately conveyed on drawings and related records.
- Updates drawings and related records and provides drafting services as assigned.
- Completes marked-up drawings; prepares sketches and graphs; drafts drawings from engineering sketches, notes, and marked-up prints.
- Converts sketched information into completed drawings, drafts changes to construction and vendor drawings.
- Integrates new information into existing drawings clearly, accurately, and consistently.
- Performs field verification of drawing accuracy and resolves "as-built" problems and conflicts.
- Assists in engineering designs as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma.
- Associate degree in computer assisted drawing, surveying, or engineering.
- Six years of related experience may substitute for degree.
- Familiarity with document control systems required.
REQUIRED LICENSES, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
- Basic knowledge of industrial standards, practices, and guidelines.
- Thorough familiarity with drafting application skills.
- Skilled in the use of computer aided drafting tools.
- Ability to read, understand and reproduce engineering drawings.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, or 10-20 pounds constantly to move equipment required for job duties.
- Sufficient physical stamina to travel frequently by automobile and occasionally by air (i.e., small, fixed wing aircraft, helicopter) to fulfill position requirements.
