Intertek's Electrical team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. Job Summary
The Engineering Team Leader is responsible for organizing and managing engineering resources within a specific location and/or department. This includes day-to-day supervision of engineers and technicians. Additionally, the Team Lead will be responsible for providing local expertise in one or more product categories and mentoring and training less senior technical personnel with applicable product safety standards.
Reporting Structure
The Engineering Team Leader reports to either the Engineering Manager or the Operations Manager.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the hiring, training, professional development, and performance management of Team members
- Maintain daily situational awareness of project statuses and ensure Team members execute the Service Delivery Model.
- Be the first escalation point for all client issues related to past and inflight projects.
- Responsible for the morale and professional welfare of Team members, maintaining clear and transparent expectations, and encouraging their progression and involvement with Intertek.
- Partner with and assist Sales in the preparation of quotes within 48 hours of receipt of RFQ, as well as partnering with Sales and the Project Management Team to resolve non-conformance issues
- Maintain, supervise, and enforce all quality requirement, equipment calibration, safety rule, and lab cleanliness standards
- Assist in the development of industry-related business objectives and initiatives
- Promote new business opportunities
- Assist Engineering Manager and Operations Manager with duties as needed
- Perform other work as required
Essential Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related scientific or engineering field
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Model Intertek's 10X Energies at all times within the workplace, practicing business the right way
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
- Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
- Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
- Must be customer focused and quality driven
- Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
- Ability to travel as business needs dictate, 25%
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's Degree in scientific, engineering or business
- 5+ years of direct management experience (Training Staff, Management Time-Off, Salary and Performance Reviews, etc.)
- Experience with budgeting and managing P&L
- Professional Engineering (PE) License
