Entry Level Accountant
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant will prepare and distribute numerous analysis schedules on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis to multiple users throughout the company. This person will also prepare and post selected journal entries as part of the monthly closing process. On an ongoing basis, the person will assist with keeping track of inventory values, including analyzing and updating rates and costs and reporting findings to upper management for review.
Responsibilities
- Collect direct labor and product development labor information from MRP system and prepare reports for distribution to relevant management personnel
- Maintain data pertaining to full import supply chain for finished goods and other imported materials, including container costs, fees, handling charges, etc.
- Work with production and engineering personnel to calculate the cost impact of design and specification changes on company products and services, and provide reports to management showing the effect on prices and profitability
- Update item costs as needed in MRP system
- Assist in month-end and year-end close of the General Ledger
- Participate in physical inventories and cycle counts as directed by management
- Other assignments and responsibilities as directed by management.
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting a plus but not required.
- Experience with accounting in a manufacturing environment a plus
- Excellent analytical skills
- Experience with Global Shop Solutions a plus but not required.
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
- Excel proficient, familiar with Access
Qualifications
- The Staff Accountant must be able to use MRP software as well as software containing spreadsheets with complicated formulas. This person must also be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the company as well as with certain outside parties such as auditors and suppliers. The position will be responsible for preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed as well as working with multiple deadlines and functional areas. Strong Excel skills as well as the ability to work with Access, Outlook, and Word are required.
