Position Summary: The Environmental Compliance Specialist will support a dynamic EHS team who aspire to deliver solutions and provide support to our team employees across the country. The successful candidate will work closely with Crystal Clean personnel and EHS Management to provide the regulatory research, guidance and compliance management to assist the company in proactively managing regulatory compliance across all aspects of the business. The effective candidate will energetically support CC's leadership team on their drive for increased efficiency and measurable improvement.

Essential Duties:
Regulatory Responsibilities -
- Environmental permitting - new facilities, existing permit modifications, renewals, etc., in the supported geographic region or operational division.
- Support the Sales, Marketing, and other departments with regulatory research and recommendations with respect to new or expanding business segments, business acquisitions, and geographic expansion.
- Shared oversight for release response actions; must be available as necessary to provide release response coordination and assistance, identify state and federal regulatory reporting obligations and report accordingly.
- Conduct environmental incident investigations and identify/document root-cause analyses (RCA) of spills and spill response/clean-up activities. Develop appropriate corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
- Understanding all requirements under the facility's environmental permits, tracking permit compliance in Enablon and communicating such requirements to facility management.
- Developing and maintaining all environmental programs and plans - SWPPP, SPCC, Contingency plans, etc.
- Developing, completing, and filing all necessary documentation and/or reports in accordance with applicable reporting and record keeping requirements - periodic environmental reporting, inspection checklists, spill reporting as needed, etc.
- Identifying and implementing environmental training programs for employees and contractors.
- Support the implementation of environmental management system, Enablon, by completing compliance calendars for all required activities and reporting obligations.
- Lead and conduct EHS audits in accordance with Crystal Clean audit program.
- Ensure all audit results are entered into Enablon.
- Collaborate with facilities on audit corrective and preventive actions and reporting to ensure timely closure of all audit results.
- Identify EHS best management practices for implementation on a company-wide basis, as appropriate.

- Ability to interpret State and Federal regulations into easy-to-understand business communications.
- Knowledge of Federal and State environmental spills/releases reporting requirements and release response strategies. Available to take calls at all necessary times during your allotted period based upon a rotating schedule.
- Ability to conduct comprehensive incident investigations, identify root causes and corrective and preventive actions.
- Knowledge of EMIS/Enablon preferred, but not required.
- Quick learner and a desire to learn more about various RCRA regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A track record of a strong work ethic and reliability.
- 3-5 years regulatory related work experience.
