Job Description: The EH&S Technician reports to Quality Assurance/EHS Manager and is the primary interface between Supervisors, Team Leads, and front-line employees. They support the business unit at the front lines with the implementation of EH&S procedures.
- Must be familiar with OSHA Maritime Industry requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Commits to work; adapts and remails flexible; maintains ethical behavior; manages oneself efficiently and in a professional manner.
- Cognizant of customer documentation, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Support data collection for ergonomics, job safety analysis, industrial hygiene and other EHS programs as needed
- Participate and conduct regular health and safety inspections
- Respect's diversity and resolve conflicts in the workplace.
- Places safety above production in performance of team activities.
- Solves issues using reference materials, organizing resources and strategies in a timely manner.
- Familiarize with STANDARD's SSPs.
- Identify Hazards Material
- Assist Spill Clean-Up
- Provide Injury/Incident report

Education/Experience Required:
- Must be able to work in the US.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid California driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain a DBIDS credentials.
- Permit Authorizing Individual (PAI) Certified
- Shipyard Competent Person (SYCP) certified
- Trained on STANDARD's TRs.
- OSHA 5410 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Maritime Industry
- OSHA 3095 Electrical Standards
Preferred:
- A plus, previous experience in a ship repair environment.
- Understand the Naval Ship Repair requirements and working environment.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative team environment and meet organizational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail and organizational abilities
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0600 - 1430 (or as otherwise assigned by General Manager) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.
Work Environment: This job operates in an office and also a shipyard work environment.
Travel: This position does require ability to travel.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights, confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.
May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., frequent stooping, bending, crawling, reaching, and walking.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable):
- Completion of a satisfactory background check
- Passing a drug test and physical examination
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.
- OSHA 10 Maritime
