Dewberry's NE Environmental office located in Parsippany, NJ has an immediate opening for an Environmental Planner in our Planning Department.
Dewberry is currently seeking an enthusiastic and talented Environmental Planner to join our Northeast Environmental, Planning Department. The successful candidate will have technical, project management, and marketing responsibilities to support environmental planning projects related to the transportation, resilience, and energy industries.

Responsibilities:The position involves managing and performing environmental impact studies including NEPA/SEQRA/CEQR, MEPA and CEPA documents and sustainability planning for urban infrastructure projects.
Duties may include:
- Managing planning projects as a Project Manager or task leader.
- Conducting extensive research, data collection, analysis and the preparation of written technical documentation pertaining to land use, policy, demographics including Environmental Justice populations, hazard, risk and vulnerability, transportation and transit, among others.
- Writing and developing comprehensive planning documents and sustainability strategies.
- Working collaboratively with other Subject Matter Experts to complete comprehensive environmental documents and preparing ULURP applications.
- Coordinating with federal, state, and local officials; community groups; academia; private sector; and public stakeholders in developing plans.
- Assisting with planning and facilitating meetings, workshops, stakeholder outreach, public meetings and open houses.
- Developing graphics and templates associated with written plans and reports.
- Experience with environmental and transportation data gathering, analysis, and presentation.
- Experience with MS Office suite, InDesign, data visualization and electronic survey tools desirable.
- Experience with GIS a plus.
- BS or BA in planning, environmental studies or a related field; MS preferred.
- 7-10 years of regional environmental planning experience.
- Strong written and oral communication and data management/visualization skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.
- Ability to be self-motivated and function both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Well-developed time management skills, especially the ability to complete high-quality, detail-oriented deliverables on tight timelines amid competing deadlines within a diverse work group.
- Ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and tact in obtaining and analyzing information.
- Experience researching, planning, and developing plans, policies, procedures, and/or guidance.
- Ability to synthesize, analyze, and organize complex information into a clear and coherent description.
