Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking an entry or junior level Environmental Scientist, in West Central Texas region to be hired on a full-time basis, in primary support of our 7-Eleven program. There will also be opportunities to participate in a variety of other environmental related support tasks, including but not limited to, solid waste, non-hazardous materials management, aboveground storage tanks, spill cleanup, site assessment and remediation, and/or environmental data management. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license with ability to travel overnight to client facilities to conduct small spill cleanup activities and other environmental related activities. They must also demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Experience may include but is not limited to: installation of environmental soil borings and monitoring wells, collection and documentation of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, environmental site assessments, environmental permitting, installation of environmental remediation systems, small quantity spill cleanup, underground storage tank installation and removal supervision and inspection, and knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental regulations. This position requires the ability to conduct field work, desktop analysis and reporting, frequent travel, and application of knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.

Key Responsibilities:
+ Collecting environmental samples in the field and preparing and preserving samples for delivery to an analytical laboratory
+ Provides technical support to clients in a variety of work scopes including, but not limited to, environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, regulatory reporting,
+ Calibrating and using technical instruments.
+ Ability to plan, organize and schedule site reconnaissance for small to large quantity spills, including travel to various sites utilizing a personal vehicle (reimbursable at the government mileage rate at the time of travel),
+ Conducts work independently or as part of a project team and can adjust to rapidly changing site conditions or client requirements.
+ Understands technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, and ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
+ Apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete the assigned work and manage his/her own time to meet deadlines set by others.
+ Work will consist of straightforward tasks using established procedures, with the potential for solving routine problems as encountered.
+ Adheres to established health and safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment and executing work in a safe and conscientious manner.
+ Supports environmental permitting and permit compliance projects.
+ Drafts technical documents for regulatory agencies and private clients.
+ Utilizes best practices and knowledge of internal and external business systems to improve products or services as a collaborative member of the APTIM team.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, or related field required.
+ Must have 0 to 3 years of applicable experience.
+ Must have a valid Driver's License.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to travel as needed with occasional overnight stays.
+ Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
+ Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) certification preferred but not required.
+ Current HAZWOPER certification preferred.
+ Experience working in Texas and Oklahoma geologic environments preferred.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, scientific computer programs, and groundwater modeling preferred.
