AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to be based in our Arlington, VA office. This position will support our team within the regions business line. This position is expected to begin immediately. This position would support environmental management and regulatory compliance programs for Federal clients.

The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to work independently, and be capable of working collaboratively as a member of a team.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have strong training or experience with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances regulations, the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and other bedrock environmental laws. Experience overseeing, contributing to, or implementing key components of headquarters-level environmental compliance programs for federal departments, other offices within the Executive Branch, or Congress is especially useful.

The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BA/BS in Environmental Science or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 4 years of related work experience supporting a federal client.
• Ability to anticipate and meet the needs of internal and/or external stakeholders
• Proven experience with technical report writing and editing.
• Proficiency in standard office suite software applications.
• Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
• Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner to broad and diverse audiences.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
• Strong research and data analysis skills, including ability to gather and synthesize information from multiple sources to produce high quality work products in a consistent, efficient, accurate, and timely manner
• Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities while remaining responsive to urgent requests
• Ability to take ownership of a project or process and to use problem solving skills to resolve issues
• Ability to manage deadlines on multiple cross-functional projects in a dynamic environment
