Under the direction of the Supervisor, Environmental Services, the Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for the following:
- Cleaning and maintaining buildings/facilities. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, spot clean carpets, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships.
- Complying with all safety, security, compliance, and quality standards.
- Environmental Services Technician I must be flexible and willing to complete all tasks that are assigned.

1. Clean building floors by sweeping mopping, scrubbing, shampooing, or vacuuming. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
2. Use ladders, dust and wash furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; clean ceilings and dust and polish light fixtures. Wash and replace blinds.
3. Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates, and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks.
4. Remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
5. Sweep walks, rake leaves, cut grass, or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.
6. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
7. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
8. Clean and vacuum carpeted areas, including application of spot cleaning treatment.
9. Gather and empty trash.
10. Wipe and clean tabletops, chairs, and equipment in food areas.
11. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
12. Service, clean, and supply restrooms and pantries, break rooms, Café & mothers’ rooms.
13. Periodically clean overhead vents, dust blinds, and polish wood furniture.
14. Clean interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
15. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
16. Maintain building security and safety by locking doors after operating hours.
17. Check electrical appliances use to ensure that hazards are not created.
18. Drive vehicles to perform cleaning work, company vehicles and golf carts.
19. May be expected to make basic repairs.
20. Any other duties as required to ensure Health Plan operations and department business needs are successful.
Education & Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience required.
- High School Diploma or GED required. In lieu of a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
- Valid Driver's License.
Key Qualifications
- Valid California Driver's License and valid automobile insurance required. Must qualify and maintain driving record to drive company vehicles based on IEHP insurance standards of no more than three (3) points.
- Travel (drive) to many locations in Riverside and San Bernardino counties in California is required.

Pay Range:USD $21.00 - USD $26.21 /Hr.
