We are searching for an Environmental Waste Manager, to support our lines of businesses on-site by managing their hazardous waste programs & projects, utilizing state & federal regulations.
Must be located in the Atlanta, GA area or Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement environmental waste strategies and policies throughout the organization
- Oversee internal/external hazardous waste shipment management and solid waste management practices for waste streams; proper handling, storage, tracking, and disposal of all waste.
- Work within the framework of the EHS Management System and Regulatory Requirements.
- Monitors federal, state and municipal regulatory changes to ensure future compliance. Provide environmental expertise to internal teams, and coordinate with stakeholders regarding relevant issues.
- Preparation of waste for shipment and disposal, including creation of all documents and managing the lifecycle of the documentation and tracking for the material
- Responsible for the safe handling of hazardous waste on our sites, including loading/unloading of waste; waste accruals, PO’s, invoices, waste pricing with TSDF vendors
- Responsible for ensuring the required inspections and audits are completed timely and accurately
- Conduct waste inspections, safety equipment inspections, and other required facility permit inspections as needed
- Participate in internal and external environmental audits
- Partner with operations/engineering personnel to ensure work practices and / or equipment changes are integrated, efficient, and effective
- Provide analysis and interpretations of environmental findings and prepare technical procedures and reports as required
- Work with site employees on maintaining environmental compliance via training, auditing, compliance tasks, and facility maintenance and operations.
- In partnership with EHS Training Department, develop training and educational tools regarding environmental goals, compliance, and awareness.
- Strong leadership and influencing skills to drive continuous safety improvement initiatives, and to lead culturally transformative behavioral processes
Other Environmental Projects:
- Assist with a variety of environmental functions, including company wide permitting, and tier II reporting.
- Assist with environmental emergency response.
- Conduct spill response measures, including the assessment of the spills and cleanup efforts
- Perform other EHS duties as requested.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/Biology or equivalent.
- 3-5 years’ relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of US EPA Waste, Air, and Water regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of Chemistry to develop disposal options for chemical waste.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems with little assistance.
- Strong customer service and communication skills are a must.
- Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
