Summary: The Equipment Operator is responsible for Operating heavy & light construction equipment- including backhoes, cable plow, Mini-Ex, Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) & other types of machinery & assures maintenance of these as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Traffic Control set up & tear down

• Ability to drive trucks & equipment to job sites
• Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
• Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.
• Directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles or equipment in the care, custody, or control.
• Report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors, corporate and assist in the investigation of same

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and/or QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• A class A CDL or the ability to obtain one is preferred but not required
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience with operating heavy equipment to include horizontal directional drilling, mini excavators, hydro-excavation equipment etc.
• 2 years of experience in utility construction preferred
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on occasion and up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
• Must be able to differentiate colors.
• Must be able to read and understand manufacture’s manuals for operating and repairing of equipment and components.
• Possess general knowledge of construction practices.
• Knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints is preferred.
• Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. snow, rain, wind, etc.) and work overtime as required.
