Position Summary
The Commercial Estimator’s primary responsibility is to manage commercial jobs from initial bid request to final quote/submittal including vendor product requirements, pricing, customer delivery needs and opportunities to provide plan or other services.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Read and interpret plumbing plans/drawings and specifications.
- Prepare accurate and timely quotations on specific jobs as required by customers and Outside Salespeople.
- Manage the Bid Log to ensure that quotes are completed and sent out before the due date.
- Provide pricing, product, product substitutions, delivery, back-order and warranty information as requested.
- Work with vendors to obtain job quotes and job quantity pricing.
- Communicate with sales team about quote status, lead time issues and other matters for their customers.
- Prepare quotes for quantity orders, in writing if requested, and prepare submittal forms tailored to each customer’s needs.
- Prepare submittal and O&M packages for projects.
- Keep abreast of new products and apply knowledge of product usage in selling additional materials to the customer consistent with job specifications. Continually work toward achieving familiarity with entire product base.
- Maintain a consistent and positive customer service image when interacting with customers.
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
- Keep catalogs and price lists up-to-date.
- Assist in training new personnel and attend company meetings as requested.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to effectively handle customers and vendors in a positive, service-oriented fashion
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- College degree preferred
- Education and/or experience in industry necessary to operate as explained above
- High degree of math competency and ability to maintain arithmetic and statistical accuracy
- Ability to set priorities and work under minimal supervision
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice
- Quickly learn organization procedures and operations.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs. (email, Excel, Word)
Physical Demands:

- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and other computer components.
- Ability to safely lift and handle material weighing up-to 50 pounds.
