Job Title: Project Estimator – Commercial Construction
Project Estimator Position Overview:
The Project Estimator will be a critical team member responsible for developing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a variety of commercial construction projects. This role requires a high level of expertise in cost analysis and estimation techniques, research, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Delivering detailed, accurate proposals and comprehensive reporting to consistently improve operations and empower growth is critical to the success of the Estimator position. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in estimating ground-up projects and will be adept at collaborating with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure comprehensive and competitive bids.
Project Estimator Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation: Prepare precise and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.

Bid Preparation: Develop detailed bid proposals and pricing documents. Analyze project plans, specifications, and scope to determine cost factors and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.

Market Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of current market conditions, material prices, and subcontractor rates. Stay updated on industry trends and changes to provide informed and competitive estimates.

Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements. Foster a collaborative environment to ensure all project aspects are considered in the estimating process.

Budget Development: Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasts. Provide input on cost management strategies and support project managers in maintaining budgetary control throughout the project lifecycle.

Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and address any issues that could impact the accuracy of cost projections.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, bid documents, and correspondence.

Client Relations: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and vendors. Provide clear and professional communication regarding estimates, proposals, and project costs.

Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and refine estimating processes and methodologies. Seek opportunities for improving accuracy and efficiency in the estimating function.
Project Estimator Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Project Estimator in ground-up commercial construction. Demonstrated ability to develop accurate estimates for a range of project types including retail, healthcare, office, and more.

Education: A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Estimating Professional) are a plus.

Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and a solid understanding of construction processes and cost analysis.

Project Estimator Compensation and Benefits:Â Competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $90,000 to $140,000. Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
