We are seeking a seasoned Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role is critical to our construction operations, as you will be responsible for developing comprehensive, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a solid background in construction, who is passionate about delivering quality and value to our clients.
Responsibilities:
1. Assisting in the preparation of competitive bid proposals and providing pre-construction services.
2. Evaluating project plans and specifications to determine the total scope of work to be estimated.
3. Conducting in-depth analysis of project data, construction drawings, and specifications.
4. Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide detailed and accurate cost estimates.
5. Creating and maintaining a cost database to support the development of historical costing models.
6. Participating in tender submissions and client meetings, as required.
7. Applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and processes related to concrete masonry.
8. Developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
9. Reviewing design options and recommending best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
10. Conducting risk analysis and identifying potential issues or obstacles, ensuring that cost estimates reflect the project's risks.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the concrete masonry sector.
2. Proven expertise in project bidding, construction management, and scheduling.
3. A strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
4. Proficiency in using estimating software and advanced Excel skills.
5. Strong analytical skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
7. Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines.
8. A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
9. Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), or equivalent, would be an asset.
