Estimator at Talascend

• Take a project from Budget to Bid through the sales and contract phase.
• Act as a sales representative after the bid is submitted to secure the project in accordance with the company’s preconstruction strategy.
• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for potential projects
• Provide a quality estimate that will win the contract in a competitive bidding situation while ensuring that the job can be carried out profitably
• Actively follow up with general contractors once the bid is submitted until project is awarded
• Attend meetings with general contractors to negotiate jobs as required
• Make jobsite visits as required on upcoming projects
• Review estimates produced with Estimating department members as required
• Develop bid strategies in conjunction with field operations to ensure approach is most effective (price, schedule, etc) and meets customer requirements
• Additional Responsibilities:
  • Customer development and retention
  • Research and develop opportunities for new customers/markets/ projects

• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, specifically in cast-in-place concrete and experience with Tilt-Wall Construction
• Concrete construction knowledge is a must
• Experience using estimating software, such as Planswift or similar
• Ability to read and analyze drawings and take offs
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
• Willingness to support sales effort with presentation of estimates to clients
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to be in office or onsite daily
• Excellent MS Suite experience (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work as part of a team to ensure the success of the estimating department
