About the Job
As an Estimator at ABS Group, you will be responsible for creating precise and thoroughly documented estimates for insurance submissions. Working independently, you will assess losses and determine the extent of property damage. This role involves remotely reviewing digital scans of property damage using various advanced technologies.
Estimators work through various FEMA assistance programs. They perform field inspections of damaged facilities to understand the probable scope of work, including construction means and methods. Estimators conduct both parametric and detailed cost analyses on a variety of public and municipal infrastructure. They prepare estimates using various documented data sources, identify the scope of eligible work for projects, including the cause and dimensions of damage, and the necessary work to repair the damage. Estimators produce efficient, traceable, verifiable, and defendable cost estimates that meet FEMA's quality review requirements.

Reports to the Senior Project Manager.
Pay Range: $40-50+ hourly, based on experience
Notice:
This position requires access to information that is subject to control by the Export Administration Regulations and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Any offer of employment shall be contingent upon the Company's verification that the candidate is a "U.S. Person" or upon the receipt of all necessary export licenses or authorizations that may be required by U.S. export control laws. What You Will Do:
- Xactimate use experience required as well as previous experience writing accurate estimates from digital scans. Special knowledge of catastrophic losses.
- Strong knowledge of state statutes and building codes, as well as how to effectively apply them to estimates.
- Ability to analyze supporting claim documentation and properly apply to the estimates.
- Ability to follow a standardized estimate format provided by the company with the ability to get things done and deliver results to agreed company standards.
- Possess the skills to effectively work as a team and communicate efficiently.
- Knowledge to accurately price for materials and labor based on the industry standards.
- Use empathy and professionalism to build trust and confidence with clients who have suffered a great loss.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an estimator using Xactimate software.
- FEMA public and policy assistance knowledge
- Xactimate use experience required as well as previous experience writing accurate estimates from digital scans. Special knowledge of catastrophic losses.
- Strong knowledge of state statutes and building codes, as well as how to effectively apply them to estimates.
- Ability to analyze supporting claim documentation and properly apply to the estimates.
- Ability to follow a standardized estimate format provided by the company with the ability to get things done and deliver results to agreed company standards.
- Possess the skills to effectively work as a team and communicate efficiently.
- Knowledge to accurately price for materials and labor based on the industry standards.
- Use empathy and professionalism to build trust and confidence with clients who have suffered a great loss.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
