This is an ongoing, part-time temporary Event Technician position. Hours worked each week will be dependent upon the number of events taking place.
Where will I work?
This position will support Daktronics equipment for University of Connecticut for a variety of sports and stadiums which may include:
- Football
- Basketball
- Field Hockey
- Track
- Soccer
- Lacrosse
- Baseball
- Ice Hocky
- Softball
When will you work:
The position’s work hours are based on event schedules and will include weekdays, weeknight, and weekends.
Work hours will fluctuate according to event timings.
You should anticipate arriving 2 hours before event doors open and working until the conclusion of the event.
For instance:
- For a 7:00pm event, your shift would be from 2:30pm to 10:30pm.
- For a 12:00 event, your shift would be from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
What will I do?
As an Event Technician you will bring the magic of the game to the video board. If you love going to sporting events, hate being trapped in an office, and are looking for work experience related to your major this is the job for you!
Our Event Technicians are part of a collaborative team responsible for the technical aspect of our events. Event Technicians are responsible for:
- Provide on-site services, including maintenance, for all Daktronics systems and control equipment:
- Learn Daktronics products, control/scoring systems, and processes and accurately diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair these systems in a timely and quality-conscious manner.
- Complete hardware repairs using hand tools and other troubleshooting equipment.
- Able to work in team environment.
- Accurately meter AC & DC power and diagnose issues.
- Complete quality work in a timely manner and be able to work under pressure and time constraints.
- Perform ‘pre-event’ equipment checks and repairs the day events will occur.
- Develop and maintain relationships with our customers as main point of contact during events.
- Arrive on time for all events that you are scheduled.
- Help when and where needed and make suggestions for improvement.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or associate degree and/or a background in one of the following areas is preferred:
- Electronics Engineering Technology, Electronic Technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
- A degree in another technical field.
- Must be available to work the event schedules at the University of Connecticut.
- Able to work at heights, work from a ladder, and ability to carry ladder/tools/parts from storage room to work site.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 45 pounds.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, good troubleshooting/problem solving skills, and self-motivation.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively as a member of a team.
- Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Must be willing and able to take on responsibility and learn new skills.
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
- Individual must have reliable transportation to travel to assigned venue.
