The Position
The Strategic Advisor (Exec Dir), Strategic Planning and Operations is responsible for assisting the SVP, Marketing in developing, communicating, and executing all corporate strategic initiatives. The position serves as a strategist, consultant and implementer for the SVP, planning and directing all key operational, financial, and administrative activities.
This role actively participates as a member of the marketing leadership team in shaping strategy, structure, and culture. This role oversees and is responsible for the annual brand and portfolio strategy planning processes to ensure the effective integration of strategies.
Relationships
Reports to the SVP, Marketing. Member of the Commercial Strategy and Marketing Team (CSMLT) and is responsible for cross-functional alignment as well as strong collaboration and organizational effectiveness within the CSMLT and other ET units. This position interacts with senior leadership (Executive and Leadership Teams) and works closely with key stakeholders across NNI (Commercial, Market Access & Public Affairs, CMR, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations and Human Resources) as well as with NN/AS counterparts and partners. Will guide cross-ET unit project managers to ensure consistency and efficiency in how approved initiatives are managed and executed. External relationships include interactions with various vendors and consultants based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs. Provide oversight for cross-organizational working groups to ensure alignment.
Essential Functions
+ Supports the SVP, Marketing on key strategic opportunities and initiatives as well as on executive reporting, presentations and communication
+ Sets the framework and strategy and best practices for therapeutic brand planning
+ Lead the Marketing budget follow-up process to ensure full transparency and optimal allocation of allocated funds
+ Support and/or represent NNI in global strategy processes and initiatives
+ Lead the planning process including the Anchor Budget (AB) process to ensure AB anchoring of prioritized Marketing initiatives
+ Drive strategic projects to secure organizational efficiencies or maximize performance opportunities in alignment with company priorities, strategic direction and NN WAY. Ensure internal communications secured as needed for effective initiative alignment, follow-through and execution
+ Ensure the generation and maintenance of integrated project plans (options development, risks management, opportunities identification, timing) that reflect the approved balance of scope, time and resources
+ Manage customer requirements and stakeholder needs
+ Manage project deliverables in accordance with project budget, scope, schedule and staffing
+ Ensure relevant reporting and follow up on progress
+ Plan and organize team tasks, deliverables and work streams
+ Monitor value metrics to inform decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs
+ Oversee analysis of multi-faceted, complex issues and guide identification of new solutions, guiding principles, concepts and tools to continuously improve performance – both within and across functional areas and geographical boundaries
+ Support and drive strong prioritization of opportunities, initiatives, programs and projects based on company objectives dealing with changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies
+ Manage processes supported by Corporate Finance and US Finance in order to secure solid financial management and commercial value creation
Physical Requirements

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.
Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.
Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
+ A Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred in relevant area (e.g. Finance, Healthcare Economics or Engineering)
+ 12+ years of progressive business analysis, strategic planning, finance or related business experience required, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry
+ Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business requirements and operate at both the strategic and tactical level
+ Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner, anticipating problems and roadblocks
+ Demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions to broad, complex issues with minimal oversight
+ Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting
+ Prior top-tier consulting experience required and/or significant proven project and change management experience
+ Proven ability to work with and influence senior management
+ Proven strategic track record to think ahead and plan over a 3-5 year time horizon
+ Very strong analytical capabilities
+ Ability to synthesize complex information into user-friendly, persuasive formats and presentations
+ Experience successfully leading complex confidential projects
