Position Overview
This internship offers a unique learning opportunity for a coding and/or health information management professional interested in expanding their coding skill and knowledge and gaining insight into how coding methodology may be utilized in healthcare technology to support improving patient care.
The Privilege Coding Development Intern will work under the guidance and direction of the Privilege Content Consultant to learn and apply coding (CPT and ICD-10) to the current and/or newly developed specialty specific clinical privilege forms in the CredentialStream environment.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training.
- Assist the Privilege Content Consultant in coding (CPT, ICD-10 PCS and ICD-10 CM) specialty specific clinical privilege line items to expand and further develop the capabilities of the CredentialStream privilege.
- Assist in assigning the appropriate medical procedure and/or diagnoses codes to existing and newly developed privileges.
- Learn and apply coding guidelines and regulations, as applicable, to existing and/or newly developed privileges.
- Attend training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills with respect to credentialing, privileging, and coding.
- Participate in privilege coding reviews to ensure accuracy and validity of assigned codes.

Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, preferred focus in healthcare, medical coding or related field
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Basic to advanced knowledge of medical billing and coding (CPT, ICD-10).
- Willingness to learn CredentialStream/MPS environment and coding tool.

- Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint Database management including data entry, retrieval, manipulation and analysis Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively. Strong attention to detail
- Ability to ensure accuracy in assigned codes to privileges
